Review by Justin Penoyer

The album Concerto N 2 Pour Violon Et Orchestre Six Duos Pour Deux Violons by Bartok Menuhin, Dorati, New Philharmonia Orchestra, Gotkovsky is a beautiful collection of classical music that will delight any fan of the genre. The album features two pieces by Hungarian composer Bela Bartok, the Concerto No. 2 for Violin and Orchestra and Six Duos for Two Violins.

The first piece, the Concerto No. 2 for Violin and Orchestra, is a stunning performance by violinist Yehudi Menuhin, accompanied by the New Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Antal Dorati. The piece is full of intricate melodies and complex rhythms, showcasing the virtuosity of Menuhin's violin playing.

The second piece, Six Duos for Two Violins, is performed by Menuhin and violinist Ida Gotkovsky. The duos are a beautiful example of Bartok's unique style, blending folk melodies with modern harmonies and rhythms. The two violinists play together with incredible precision and skill, creating a beautiful and haunting atmosphere.

Born: 1881-03-25 (Nagyszentmiklós, Magyar Királyság). Died: September 26, 1945 (New York, New York, United States). Béla Viktor János Bartók was a Hungarian composer, pianist, ethnomusicologist and collector of Eastern European and Middle Eastern folk music (born 25/03/1881 in Nagyszentmiklós, today Sânnicolau Mare, Romania - died 25/09/1945 in New York, U.S.A). He is considered one of the greatest composers of the twentieth century; his vast production reveals a daring and restless harmonic instinct that is affected by his passionate studies on Hungarian folk songs. Typical elements of Béla Bartók style (derived from Hungarian, Transylvanian and Romanian folklore) consists in the use of irregular rhythms and a clear preference for obsessive rhythms. His compositions have sonorities, sometimes abstract, but often harsh, rough and barbaric. Married to the pianist . His 2nd son, became a recording engineer.
