Just unbelievable. So many progressive rock groups practically stole Charles' ideas, but never as well. I put Mingus ahead of even The Duke for creativity and raw blues/jazz/gospel. I'll never forget President Carter giving Charles a hug when Mingus had Lou Gherigs disease. Charles kept going to the end.

even at the end of his life mingus made the competition squirm..how many great musicians produced music of this quality at the end of their career..musically speaking he was fresher than ever...how many younger current musicians,considered to be at the height of their powers can give this man a proper run for his money..few indeed..especially on the relatively lame,tame & shy british scene..shame on you..for those of faith perhaps it would be helpful to imagine the great man with them in his gun sights strongly tempted to shoot....
