Review by Наталья Мартынова

Half Pint's album Tears On My Pillow is a reggae classic that showcases the Jamaican singer's soulful vocals and poetic lyrics. Released in 1989, the album features ten tracks that blend roots reggae, lovers rock, and dancehall rhythms with heartfelt melodies and poignant themes.

The opening track, "Sally," sets the tone with its bittersweet tale of lost love and regret. Half Pint's voice is tender and vulnerable, conveying the pain and longing of the protagonist. The title track, "Tears On My Pillow," is a cover of the classic doo-wop song, but Half Pint infuses it with his own style, adding a reggae beat and a wistful vibe.

Other standout tracks include "Hold On," a rousing call to perseverance and faith, and "One Big Family," a celebration of unity and solidarity among all people. Half Pint's lyrics are socially conscious and spiritual, addressing issues such as poverty, injustice, and the power of love.

Musically, Tears On My Pillow is a masterpiece of reggae production, with lush arrangements, tight rhythms, and soulful backing vocals. The album was produced by George Phang, a legendary Jamaican producer who worked with many of the top reggae artists of the 1980s.
